What is an Individual Agreement

An Individual Agreement is a negotiated arrangement between a First Nation and Canada, detailing the specifics of how reserve lands will be managed and the transfer of administrative responsibilities from Canada to the First Nation. It covers aspects such as the handling of revenue and capital funds, the implementation of an interim environmental assessment process, and the necessary funding to support these transitions. This agreement ensures a clear and structured approach to transferring land governance and associated resources from federal to First Nation control.
